The trip starts about 8 am from accommodation place. Driving to Marangu takes about one hour. Arriving to Marangu you will meet professional Cultural tourism program guide. Then we start to explore Chagga tribe’s life.
During the day we visit in many interesting places. You can see the local blacksmiths are making different products in traditional way on open fire. Then you will see how the local banana beer is made. You can also taste it! On Wednesdays and Saturdays you can visit a big Chagga market in Marangu. We also visit one of the three remaining original Chagga huts where one grandmother is living with her grandchildren, cows and coats.
During the day you visit also underground caves and eat a traditional Chagga lunch prepared by Chagga women. In the end you can relax and even swim in the pond under the waterfalls. Before we drive back home we will go up to Kilimanjaro climbing starting point. There you can see amazing views. If the weather is clear you can see all the way to Kenya. Then we start driving back to Moshi.
The trip lasts whole day. You should have good shoes because we need to walk a lot. You should also wear clothes which are suitable for crawling and can get dirty in the underground caves. Take your own torch or headlight for the underground caves.
